Emotional, physical, and cognitive experiences have been demonstrated experimentally to be tightly interconnected, just as philosophical and spiritual traditions have long assumed.

Emotional, physical, and cognitive experiences have been demonstrated experimentally to be tightly interconnected, just as philosophical and spiritual traditions have long assumed. For example, researchers have demonstrated that an incidental bodily sensation of warm temperature can affect our cognitive judgment of another person’s kindness. But little has been done to investigate the constraints and interactions involved. To begin to address this lacuna, our project aims to investigate the way our mind makes use of conflicting or ambiguous cues from bodily experiences. Neural underpinnings and the potential role of language in these connections will also be systematically investigated.
