In diesem Seminar werden wir klassische Fragen zum Zusammenspiel von Sprache und Denken behandeln: Wird die Wahrnehmung durch die Struktur der eigenen Sprache beeinflusst? Lenkt die Sprache auch die Gedanken in vorgefertigte Bahnen? Gibt es synergistische Effekte zwischen konzeptuellen und sprachlichen Unterscheidungen? Neben philosophischen und sprachtheoretischen Positionen (Humboldt, Whorf, Levinson) sollen im Seminar auch empirische Daten diskutiert werden. Dabei soll – unabhängig von weltanschaulichen Positionen – untersucht werden, ob neuere experimentelle Befunde aus den Kognitions- und Neurowissenschaften einen Zusammenhang zwischen Denken und Sprache zweifelsfrei beweisen. In der Abschlussdiskussion sollen die bisher erhobenen Befunde und Argumente zusammen diskutiert werden – mit dem Ziel einer Bewertung des state-of-the-art durch die Seminarteilnehmer.
